Questions & Answers

New for this year

In this year’s competition, the five finalists will make their themed pralines live during the competition. In addition, they will bring their show pralines – the pralines they used in their application to the Praline World Cup – for judging on the day of the competition. Detailed information about the competition day – as well as this year’s theme – will be given to the finalists as soon as the finalists are announced.

Can anyone enter the competition?

The competition is open to working confectioners and professional praline artisans. You need to either be employed or run your own business.

Does it cost anything to register?

Entry to the competition is free of charge. You are responsible for any shipping and delivery costs. If you make it to the final, you are also responsible for any travel and accommodation costs.

Do I have to send in my chocolates immediately after registration?

Registration for the Praline-SM 2025 is open between May 14 – September 22.
Step 1. You register first and describe your entry
Step 2. Your 20 identical show pralines (molded or hand-dipped) with a weight of 8-15g/praline, you hand in at Panem in Gamla stan in Stockholm or send, so that we have them about 1-2 weeks before the deadline. Read carefully on the registration page.

What is the split between professional confectioners and professional praline artisans?

As a rule, there is a 50-50 split among those registered. In 2024, we received a total of 22 notifications from all over the country, with a good geographical spread between large cities and smaller towns.

If I become a finalist - will I receive more information about the final day?

The five finalists will receive a detailed information leaflet with everything they need to know about the competition and which themed chocolates will be produced.

What ingredients can I use for my praline?

The show chocolate is your unique creation where you decide the content yourself. In the final, there will be a theme praline, where chocolate from the competition’s main sponsor KåKå/Werners Gourmetservice will be used. In addition, the sponsor Diplomatico will contribute with a selected rum. Coffee may also be included. All finalists will have these products sent to their homes to allow them to train in peace and quiet.

Can finalists bring their family members to the competition?

A number of tickets will be awarded to the finalists, who will have the opportunity to bring family, friends or work colleagues.

Media coverage of competitors

The local press will conduct regular interviews with the registered participants. Once the finalists are confirmed, we will inform the local media.

Praline-SM - a family community

The competition is appreciated for its family atmosphere and open dialog, where there is always room for laughter. The contestants are not competitors but industry colleagues who support each other. Once we know who the five finalists will be, we will start a WhatsApp group where everyone can ask questions.

Who should I contact if I have questions?

It is the competition manager Gustaf Mabrouk and the project manager Robert Kwok you communicate with, mainly via Instagram (@pralinsm) where we always respond quickly.
